Home Firearm Safety Course

Parents must accompany students under 18 years of age. There are no prerequisites for taking this course, and the material is accessible to appropriately supervised mature children. You are not required to own a firearm to attend this course.

A non-shooting course that deals with the storing and caring
for a firearm in the home. There is an emphasis on children
and learning gun safety. The main cause of firearm related
accidents in the home can be traced to improper handling or
lack of education with firearms. This course of instruction,
while not designed to teach the student marksmanship or
accuracy, will teach the student what to do should they
encounter an unattended firearm.
The 4-hour course deals with the basic knowledge, skills, and
attitude needed to explain the need for safe handling and
storage of guns in the home.
Course Goal: Students will receiver the NRA's Home Firearm
Safety handbook, pamphlets on safety and terminology, and
lessons on the rules of safe gun handling, identifying and
unloading various firearms, ammunition, cleaning, and
storage, and will get hands-on experience with the most
common types of handguns, rifles, air guns and shotguns.

4. Types of Ammunition: Cleaning and Storage
of Firearms
