National Rifle Association Instructor Training

Welcome to the NRA Instructor Course page classes presented by
SHOOT NJ.

Shoot NJ offers ALL the NRA disciplines, classes given by
Chet Wilson NRA Training Councilor.

Before you go further you must ask yourself do I have the
knowledge, skills and attitude to become a firearms instructor?

We highly recommend you attend a NRA basic course in the discipline
you wish to be an instructor in, to see how the
class is run.  This not mandatory by NRA standards, but is just
common sense. There is a pre course assessment and you will be
asked the basic student questions off of the NRA basic student test.

We also recommend you take a Range Safety Officer first. This is not
a teaching discipline however it is a fantastic foundation to build your
safety protocols and familiarization to all type of firearms and range
procedures. RSO is a 9 hours non shooting course.
If you take RSO and an Instructor course together there is a
discount available.

The first step in the instructor process is the BIT Basic Instructor
Training. This is a six hour minimum course that teaches you how to
run an NRA class and the NRA's teaching philosophy and theory.

The second step it to chose what you wish to teach and take the
disciplines instructor course.

Not everyone can be an instructor, just because you can shoot well
doesn't make you a candidate to be an instructor. These courses are
not designed to teach you about shooting. You should poses the
knowledge, skills and attitude as well as be versed in firearms, safety,
range safety, gun cleaning and so on BEFORE you take the class.

Classes taken at SHOOT NJ are never a guaranteed pass.
